FAQ

Do I have to be a professional artist to take part?

This exchange is about the love of relief printmaking. Everyone is welcome!

Should there be any art on the address side or just on the opposite side? I was thinking of leaving the address side without any art; only address. Is that alright? Or is there an expectation that there be some form of art on the address side?

Perfectly fine to leave it blank.

I wrote a short platitude on the back of mine last year - some people carved tiny stamps and stamped an image.

Others did nothing.

There is very little that you can do wrong with this exchange.

Am I supposed to be on my own list?

Yes, you are. You are sending out 20 postcards, I've sent 21 names.

Everyone in your group gets the same list. This is to alleviate some of the work from me but it also allows you to confirm that your address is correct.

What kind of paper should I use?

If you are mailing as a postcard you should use a paper that is akin to cardstock at least 250gsm. Most mail houses use either 14pt or 16pt cardstock. I personally use Stonehenge or Speedball Arnhem 1618.

With that said if you are hand printing and need to use thinner paper feel free to use an envelope.

I am from ______________ (somewhere outside the United States) can I still be part of the exchange?

Yes, anyone from anywhere may take part.

Can I use an envelope?

Yes!

You mention having 20 prints ready for December 10th, but then mention 21 addresses. So, we'd need 21 prints ready yes?

21 addresses, including yours! You are on the list but you will not be sending yourself a postcard. However, you never know how things will go so best to make a few extra just in case.
