Effective date: 1 October 2026
App: Rekeep: File Recovery & QR (Android, package com.rekeep.filerecovery)

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Rekeep app (the "App", "we", "us") processes, why, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this policy.
1. Summary
Your files are processed on your device. The App does not upload your photos, videos, audio, documents, Vault files or QR content to our servers.
The App does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used and Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to show ads. These Google services may collect device and usage information as described below.
2. Information processed on your device
Files. When you scan, the App reads file names, folder paths, sizes and dates in the storage locations Android allows it to access, so it can list, preview and restore your files. This happens locally on your device.
Restored files. When you choose to restore a file, the App saves a copy to Downloads/Rekeep (Photos, Videos, Audio or Documents). Your original file is not changed. When you restore a hidden file, the copy is saved to Downloads/Rekeep/Hidden and the original hidden file is removed only after the copy succeeds.
Safe Vault. Files you move into the Vault are encrypted (AES-GCM) and stored in the App's private storage. The encryption key is kept in Android Keystore. Your Vault PIN is stored only as a salted hash on your device. If you unlock with a fingerprint or face, Android handles the biometric check; the App never receives your biometric data.
File Cleaner. The App lists large files, possible duplicates and old downloads for your review. Nothing is deleted unless you confirm the deletion.
QR codes. The camera is used only while the QR scanner is open, to read QR codes and barcodes. You can also pick an image from your gallery instead. Scanned and created codes are kept in a local QR history. QR images you save go to Pictures/Rekeep/QR.
Settings. Your language, reminder schedule and similar preferences are stored on your device.
3. Information collected by Google services
Firebase Analytics. We log in-app events such as screens viewed, features used, scan type, file type, number of files found or restored, scan duration and ad events. Events are linked to a random identifier created by the App (not your name or email). Firebase may also collect device model, Android version, app version, language, approximate region and app instance ID. Events never include file names, file contents, QR content, PINs or biometric data.
Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and network information and ad interactions. Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), the App asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalized ads are shown.
These services are provided by Google LLC and process data under Google's own terms:

We do not sell your files, and we do not share your files with anyone.
4. Permissions
Permission Why the App uses it
All files access (Android 11+) / Storage (older Android) To scan your folders, preview files, save restored copies, move files into the Vault and delete files you choose
Camera To scan QR codes and barcodes while the scanner is open
Biometric To unlock the Vault with your fingerprint or face, if you choose
Notifications For optional daily or weekly scan reminders
Internet, network state To load ads and send analytics
Advertising ID For ads measurement and, with consent where required, personalized ads
You can deny or revoke any permission in Android Settings. Some features will not work without the related permission.
5. What the App cannot do
The App works with files that are still stored in folders Android lets it read, including hidden folders and app folders. It does not read raw storage sectors and cannot guarantee recovery of files that have been permanently erased.
6. Your choices
Turn scan reminders on or off in the App's Settings.
Reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings > Google > Ads (wording varies by device).
Revoke permissions in Android Settings.
Delete restored files, Vault files and QR history from inside the App at any time.
7. Data retention and deletion
Files, the Vault, QR history and settings stay on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling it permanently removes Vault files, so move out anything you want to keep first.
Analytics and advertising data are kept by Google according to its retention settings and policies. To ask about or request deletion of analytics data linked to your installation, email us at the address below.
8. Security
The App uses Android private storage and Keystore-backed encryption for the Vault. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the App or legal requirements change. The new version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
