Foreword (May 30th, 2023)

This page was published in late 2022 to combat Lospec's toxic behavior in relation to palette and art submissions. A good part of the issues were addressed as of today (May 30th, 2023):

• The Lospec Discord bot no longer crossposts palette and art submissions in the Palette channel without the artist's consent;

• The Gallery system facilitated the submission of palettes and art for the users;

• Palette example rules are no longer enforced arbitrarily;

• The community has visibly improved in relation to usage of unorthodox palettes.

However, some problems still remain:

• There are palettes that are in the pending queue for more than six months;

• Some members still joke about the existence of this manifesto instead of working along with it;

• Some members still carry the notion that rejected palettes are "not reccomended (sic)" for art.

Therefore, the next paragraph and the Manifesto may not fully reflect the reality in Lospec anymore, however due to the problems aforementioned, we at Rejected Palettes still think it is relevant to keep them, not just to further improve their community but also to serve as a reminder on how to treat its members with the respect they deserve.

Addendum

This addendum specifically talks about how some members have acted negatively towards palette upload systems and its rippling effects in other servers not related to Lospec, which can make the whole community be perceived poorly by others.

We did not write this to mock anyone, as that is not our goal. Our goal is to criticize the bad behaviors and show ways to improve them.

Unfortunately, one of the palettes we talk about in detail is named after its creator. We had left the palette name intact, which made our addendum sound like a personal attack towards them. We take full responsibility for this shortcoming and we'll be updating this manifesto to anonymize them.

We ask you kindly not to use either manifestos in this site as a means to deride anyone. We work for a better, more inclusive pixelart community and as such, they must not be used in malicious ways.
