Currently, I am working towards completing my Master's degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse at DePaul University. I was drawn to this program for its distinct focus on rhetoric and discourse, as well as its Teaching Apprenticeship Program. Some of my research interests in this field include: critical university studies; rhetoric of friendship, relationships, and romance; sociolinguistics and critical discourse analysis.
I'm also getting a Graduate Certificate in Education, Culture, and Society from DePaul. Learning about critical pedagogy, social and cultural reproduction, and identity construction and negotiation immensely inform my approach of the goals of education and instructional design.Â
My undergraduate background in American Studies helped me to develop foundational critical thinking and cultural analysis skills in an interdisciplinary fashion, while my experience with high school dual-enrollment showed me how non-traditional educational paths are incredibly empowering.
