Human Rights and Sustainability
Human rights and sustainability are intrinsically linked: respect for human rights is a foundation for sustainable development, and vice versa. This applies to all areas of our lives. It is this motivation that strengthens me in my research, thinking and actions, both within and outside academia. This is why I am committed to women's and children's rights. For example, in my 2015 essay on children’s rights, I explore the ethical and philosophical foundations of protecting and promoting the rights of children in contemporary society. The two pictures on this page were created during my art projects with children, whom I consider to be truly amazing artists.
I am also actively engaged in gender and diversity initiatives, collaborating with organizations such as the Society for Women in Philosophy Germany (SWIP), which advocates for the visibility and advancement of women philosophers in Germany.
Additionally, I contribute to the Network for Women and Gender Research NRW, a regional initiative that promotes interdisciplinary research on gender issues, and the Working Group on Women* and Gender Research of the Society for the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology (GWMT), where we focus on integrating gender perspectives into the history and philosophy of science.
I make the history and philosophy of science accessible and engaging, especially highlighting women’s contributions in physics and promoting interdisciplinary dialogue on current scientific issues. Through articles, exhibitions, workshops, and talks, I connect academic research with public understanding, emphasizing the social and historical context of science. For more details, see my publications such as Women in Quantum History and Laser, Licht und Quanten: Der Beitrag von Forscherinnen (Deutsches Museum, 2025). Other works include Frauen in der Physikgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts (2023), Brief Lives: Emilie du Châtelet (2023), and interdisciplinary pieces like KI aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive (2022). I have also co-organized workshops such as Features: A Workshop on Female Logicians (2022) and written on societal topics like Epidemien und ihre Folgen (Cicero, 2020). As part of my science communication outreach, I’ve participated in podcasts such as the BR Podcast: Radioreportage – "KI – eine rein männliche Erfindung?"
and Deutschlandfunk Kultur – Gesellschaft Zeitfragen.
