Brief Synopsis of Research: The main research focus is on designing scheduling algorithms for cloud environment to ensure fault tolerance and energy efficiency simultaneously. The latest work was on time-sensitive virtual machine provisioning and resource allocation (TS-VMPA) algorithms for heterogeneous resource pools in cloud. These mechanisms select user requests based on the bid per time unit, scarcity of resources and deadline to maximize the system profit and utilization. Real trace data from running benchmarks on own Openstack cluster is used for simulation. Immediate next step would be to analyze the performance of container technologies (like docker) under TS-VMPA algorithms as well as to provide energy efficiency and fault tolerance in clouds.
