Dr. Amalia Del Riego Abreu
Unit Chief, Health Systems Governance and Financing Unit, PAHO
Dr. Amalia Del Reigo Abreu is a medical doctor from the Dominican Republic. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health with more than 20 years of national and international experiences in strengthening health systesms— including administration and governance, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation— health information systems, and integration of priority programs in health systems and services (HIV and sexual and reproductive health). Amalia is currently Unit Chief of the Health Systems Governance and Financing in the Pan American Health Organization.
Claudia Pescetto
Regional Advisor, Health Economics and Financing, PAHO
Ms. Pescetto currently works as a Regional Advisor in Health Economics and Financing at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), where she helps design and implement technical cooperation projects related to the sustainability and efficiency of health financing systems at the country, sub-regional, and regional levels. She also leads the project to institutionalize the production of health accounts using SHA2011 methodology and implements capacity-building programs about health economics and health financing issues to technical staff and decision-makers of health sectors. Ms. Pescetto holds an MA in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University in the United States and a BA in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Peru.
Joe Kutzin
Director, Universal Health Coverage/Healthier Populations, WHO Regional Office for Africa
Joe Kutzin is a health economist with over 30 years’ experience in health financing policy and health system reform, working in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe. He has been with WHO for over 20 years, serving in Headquarters, in Kyrgyzstan as policy advisor to the Ministry of Health, and in Copenhagen and Barcelona as the European Region’s Advisor on Health Financing. He has published numerous articles on health financing, health systems and universal coverage, and co-authored and edited books on health financing in European and low and middle-income countries. Mr. Kutzin has a Master’s in Development Economics from Boston University and in 2012 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.

Adeel Ishtiaq is a senior program officer at Results for Development (R4D) working on global health projects. Mr. Ishtiaq holds a BA in economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan and an MA in international relations from Yale University.

At Results for Development, Ms. Chikhradze provides technical and managerial leadership, mainly on health systems and health financing. Ms. Chikhradze holds an MSc in health policy, planning and financing from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Antony Dutinne
Advisor, Disability and Rehabilitation, PAHO
After working as a physiotherapist in the UK National Health Service for a number of years, Antony worked in Namibia, Afghanistan, and HI's headquarters. Since 2017, Antony has been the Regional Advisor on Disability and Rehabilitation at the Pan American Health Organization. In this role he supports the countries and territories in the Americas to strengthen their rehabilitation and assistive technology services and build inclusive health services for people with disabilities. Antony holds a Masters in Development Management and is has a doctoral degree in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Anna Rupert
Speech and Language Pathologist and Health Economist, Canada
Anna is a speech-language pathologist and University of Toronto graduate with over 10 years of experience supporting the communication development of children. Currently, Anna is the Program Manager for the Early Abilities preschool speech and language program at the George Hull Centre for Children & Families in Toronto, Canada. In addition to her training and work in speech-language pathology, Anna is a researcher and healthcare consultant. She holds a Masters degree in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics with a focus on making the economic case for the inclusion of rehabilitation services within health systems. She is currently conducting research with the Institute of Childhood Trauma and Attachment at the George Hull Centre in early childhood trauma, attachment and speech-language pathology.
Dr. Renato Oliveira e Souza
Unit Chief, Mental Health and Substance Use, PAHO
Renato Oliveira e Souza joined PAHO as Chief of the Mental Health and Substance Use Unit in 2020. Before this, he worked as a consultant for the Department of Mental Health and Substance Use at WHO headquarters in Geneva. He obtained his MD the Pontifical Catholic University of San Pablo and a specialist degree in Psychiatry from the University of San Pablo. In 2000, he received a postgraduate degree in Forensic Psychiatry from King’s College, London. He also obtained a master's degree in Epidemiology from the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, in London.

Dr. Alarcos Cieza oversees the World Health Organization’s work on vision, hearing, disability and rehabilitation in her position of Unit Head, Sensory Functions, Disability and Rehabilitation. After obtaining her MSc in psychology in Madrid, Spain, she conducted a Master in Public Health and obtained a PhD in Medical Psychology from the Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich, Germany.

Dr. Anne Deutsch has worked as a Research Scientist at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research for 11 years. Anne also holds an appointment as a Senior Research Public Health Analyst at RTI International and is a research assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Institute for Healthcare Studies. Anne's research focuses on the development and implementation of quality measures and Medicare post-acute care payment reform. She has been involved in the Midwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Model System, and she led the research team that developed the functional status quality measures that are used in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program.
