mission

Among the possibilities already organized by the faculty (Department Seminars and Applied Lunch Seminars) we realized that an additional moment of discussion is needed to:

  1. Discuss and present new relevant topics in the literature or interesting methodologies.

  2. Exchange views about very preliminary research projects or just about research questions linked with the presented topic.

  3. Enhance the interaction among PhD students from a research point of view, paving the ground for further collaboration and joints projects and fostering knowledge spill overs.

  4. Expand the knowledge and understanding of different fields beyond our own and promote interdisciplinary projects.

This opportunity is designed as a complement, not a substitute, to already available seminar series, for two reasons. First, a relevant article or topics and methodologies should be presented and discussed, which would not be welcomed in the standard seminar series. Linking the presentation with the presenter research agenda (i.e., research question or preliminary results of an ongoing project) is encouraged. Second, the feedback received by the speaker would be “peer-to-peer” and not from more experienced scholars.

PhD Students/young scholars of other Departments are more than welcome (particularly from the Bellaterra campus) to participate, which would help the interaction, cooperation and share of knowledge among UAB researchers. Research Master students are also welcome, to have a first look at the research and academic world and to interact with PhD students about their research interests and their experience with the PhD programme.
