Welcome Message
Bertha Yetman, Executive Board President
September 2025 marks the beginning of my third year as president of Regis College Alumni/ae. It is ever a delight and a pleasure to celebrate the successes of our students and continue to participate in the ongoing work of our college. Each year has been marked with such memorable events as our annual convocation, inspiring lectures and classes, engaging conferences and meetings, distinguished with notable guest speakers.
This year, together with Regis College staff and students, our Alumni/ae was privileged to host “Conversations with a Synod Delegate”. Sr. Elizabeth Davis, RSM, Th.D. delivered the keynote with Dr. Michael W. Higgins as respondent. Sister Elizabeth was one of 54 women voting delegates invited to the universal stage of the Church’s Synod on Synodality.
In May, we were again honoured to host a book launch/ conference/ on The Call of the Heart: Reflections on Women of Faith Courage and Vision. Panelists presented on the storied lives of eight religious and three lay Canadian women, who served at home and abroad. These women distinguished themselves in their ministries while at the forefront of causes for education, justice and charity, or in their prayerful silence helped shrink distances in a broken world. Hope for the Church of the Future was enunciated in the concluding address on “Women and Synodality”.
We are looking forward to this year with a more complete calendar of stimulating courses, symposiums, conferences, inspiring liturgies and exciting social events. Congratulations to all the graduands whom we encourage to become active members of our alumni/ae. Together, we can build a more vibrant community committed to caring for our common home.
Blessings to all,
Bertha Yetman
