"To put the world in order we must first put the nation in order;
to put the nation in order we must first put the family in order;
to put the family in order we must first cultivate our personal life;
we must first set our hearts right."
-Confucius
We encourage all staff to become active members of the Georgia Professional Human Services Association (GPHSA). This associate provides advocacy, education and networking for human services professionals across the state.
Starting a new career can be overwhelming, whether you are straight out of college or starting your second career later in life. Working with DFCS is no different. There is a lot to know, but we do not expect you to know it all right away. Take the time to get settled in your position. Be curious. Ask questions. Start and end each day knowing that you are doing the most important work in the State of Georgia, and be proud of the difference you are making in the lives of others.
Any career at DFCS can (and will!) be stressful. It is your #1 priority to take care of yourself. If you do not do that, you cannot help others. Take some time to look through the resources below. Pick one - or several - that speak to you and really use them to come up with a plan that ensures you take care of yourself so that you can be here for the long-haul.
So, you've gotten the hang of your job and you're starting to look for other challenges. We are here to help you grow and have a long career with DFCS if that is your goal! Below are just a few resources to help you become a valued part of our leadership team. Whether you lead your caseload, your unit, your County or the State, it is important that we keep learning and growing to provide the best services possible for the families and children of Georgia.
