Carol Merengwa is a Nigerian-American photographer and filmmaker from Orlando, Florida. Shooting primarily on 35mm film, Carol’s photography captures the beauty of life around her and her community. Her photos vary from street photography and portraits to BTS, live events and concerts - all places and moments where people have the opportunity to show up for and with each other. In this exhibition, Carol presents “Church on Church Street”, a reflection on the endurance of the spaces that bring community together in the face of hardship, with a focus on the Black church. Through her photography, Carol seeks to capture the essence of what keeps humanity going - us looking out for, taking care of, showing up for, and celebrating one another.
