Alicia Ifill is a photographer based in Orlando, Florida.
Her work centers on the unique beauty of the world that often goes unnoticed. Through fashion, she aims to break away from the everyday and highlight individuality.
She shoots on a Canon 6D Mark II, creating images that blend bright, vibrant color with mood and subtle grit.
She is heavily influenced by magazines such as GQ, W, and Interview. She enjoys taking small elements from editorial shoots and transforming them into something entirely her own. She admires the work of photographers like Tyler Mitchell and Zamar Velez. She enjoys taking unexpected or unconventional ideas and transforming them into art.
In this exhibition, she presents Space Boy, a piece shot at Twin Oaks Conservation Area. The concept explores themes of space and Black culture, as well as the feeling of isolation and the fear of standing out in such a vast world.
When viewers look at this work, she does not expect them to feel one specific emotion. Instead, she hopes they are drawn into the model and remain engaged with the subject. Why a space helmet? Why a field? It doesn’t have to fully make sense it simply needs to captivate and stand on its own.
