The purpose of having students create a website while researching a genocide is to engage them in a meaningful, interactive learning experience that deepens their understanding of the historical events, causes, and consequences. By organizing their research into a digital format, students develop critical skills in information synthesis, digital literacy, and respectful storytelling. This project encourages empathy, promotes awareness of human rights issues, and helps students communicate complex information clearly and creatively to a wider audience. This project is designed for 10th grade; however, it can be scaffolded to fit any high schooler's needs.
