I have been married to my best friend, Greg, for 13 years and am a proud mother to four amazing kids. We have lived in the Thornapple Kellogg school district since 2002. Our eldest son, Matthew, recently relocated back to Michigan after serving 5 years in the Army. He and his wife blessed us with our first grandchild, Mateo, in June. Benjamin started his Senior year at Michigan State University and will begin applying for graduate school this fall. Anna returned from a summer internship in Montana and started her sophomore year at MSU. Jacob, our youngest, begins his Senior and final year at TK High School.
I was appointed to the Board of Education in 2019 and elected in 2022. I have earned 35 educational credits through the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
MASB has an exemplary training program for School Boards and their members. Classes are developed to give Board Members the foundation and skills to stay effective and current on educational issues. Here are some of the classes I have completed:
Fundamentals of School Board Service
Governing Through Policy
School Finance
School Law
Curriculum and Instruction
Community Relations
Superintendent Evaluation Tool Training
Strategic Planning
Many topic-specific webinars.
I serve on the board of directors for the Thornapple Enrichment Foundation (TAEF) and Serenity Village of Barry County. I have been a volunteer coach and mentor as well as volunteering hours to a growing TAPRC organization. My children have been involved in numerous programs in which I have volunteered over the years. I thoroughly enjoy giving back to my community through my time and resources to continue to make Middleville a great place to live.
I am a registered nurse by trade, graduating with my Grand Valley State University degree. Early in my career, I discovered a passion for leadership and moved out of bedside nursing. I hold two additional degrees: an administration degree from Central Michigan and a business degree from GVSU. Four years ago, I landed my dream job as the Director of Operations at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, marrying all my passions together: healthcare, leadership, and bettering the lives of children. I am involved in the patient family advisory committee, employee wellness committee, and multiple quality and safety committees at work.
