Reed Cagle has forged a formidable reputation as a seasoned consultant in the oil and energy sectors, where he leverages his extensive knowledge and strategic insight to guide companies through complex operational challenges and technological integrations, particularly in advanced drilling techniques like horizontal drilling. His ability to optimize processes and embrace innovative technologies has consistently enhanced his clients' productivity and efficiency.
Born in the small town of Clarksville, Texas, in 1962, Cagle has always connected deeply to his Texan roots, viewing Texas as the cornerstone of his identity and values despite his extensive international travels. Married to his wife, Donna, the couple has raised their son in an environment steeped in strong family values for over thirty years. In 1999, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, but eventually, in 2017, they returned to their Texan roots, settling in Plano, where they continue to live.
Reed’s professional journey in the oil industry commenced in 1986 with his initial role at Kinlaw Oil Corporation. His intrinsic curiosity and commitment to the industry propelled him rapidly through the ranks as he sought to innovate and improve upon traditional practices. After a decade of enriching experiences and promotions at Kinlaw, he took the entrepreneurial leap.
In 1996, he established his own company in Dallas, Texas. The following year, he launched Heartland Energy Inc. (HEI), taking on the roles of president and CEO. Under his leadership, HEI became renowned for its proactive approach to venture sponsorship and exploration in oil, gas, and minerals. In 2006, Cagle’s foresight and innovative thinking led to developing a 2000 horsepower drilling rig, enhancing HEI’s capabilities and setting new industry standards.
By 2011, Reed expanded his business ventures into the mining industry, starting with a significant operation in Oregon that produced 89,000 ounces of gold. His entrepreneurial spirit also took him to Chile, where he oversaw the operations and financing of a gold and copper processing facility in Copiapo. During this period, he pioneered a proprietary technology that revolutionized the metal recovery process by detoxifying harmful substances from liquids used in mining, improving environmental safety and operational efficiency.
Today, Cagle resides in Plano, Texas, and continues to provide consultancy services to many clients in the oil and energy sectors and companies in other industries. His expertise is particularly sought after by midsize independent companies and a significant East and Central Texas landscaping firm.
Reed’s love for the outdoors extends to his personal life. He enjoys hunting, fly fishing, and cycling, actively promoting the latter for its health benefits. He also holds a private pilot's license, allowing him to indulge his passion for flying. His engaging personality and leadership skills are also evident in his active involvement in his local church, where he organizes various community activities.
Cagle is an adept golfer with a four-handicap. He regularly participates in charity golf tournaments alongside his son, using these events to support various philanthropic causes. He founded Outreach, a non-denominational Christian charity that promotes sustainable and spiritual development in communities globally. The charity is constructing vital infrastructure such as homes, churches, schools, and medical facilities and raises funds through its annual Chip-In charity golf tournament.
Reed Cagle's career, spanning over three decades in the oil industry, is marked by his innovative leadership and commitment to advancing industry standards.
