Hello, my name is Reed Merchant. I am a student at Leonardtown Highschool and the James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. I study Engineering to get a better understanding on how certain objects in the world work. I haven't decided on what I'd like to do but that's why I am taking the engineering course. I'm excited to learn about Engineering because it is a career that I'm interested in learning more about. My dad was the one who got me into engineering, even though he's not an engineer himself. We were initially discussing different career paths and that's when he introduced me to the idea of engineering. I wasn't to interested at first, but after I did more research and discovered all of the different things we can accomplish with engineers. I am currently enrolled in the engineering course in the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, but that is the only course I am taking to better my engineering future.
I have done multiple extracurricular activity's, including high school football for two years, I've played soccer for twelve years, I've played the violin for five years, and I've been to all county and states. Through extracurricular activates I've learned the importance of leadership and quality teamwork between people and objects, like how a team works together to accomplish a goal in soccer or football, or how you as an individual work with both other people and objects to play instruments to create a melody. I recently got a job at a small bar called "The Rex." I've worked there for about two weeks so far and I am a waiter. I've also worked as a soccer referee for almost two years. I've learned from both jobs that patience is key in everything you do. You must always be patient in order to receive or achieve something you're aiming for, no matter what it is that you are working towards.
