RMS SO Informational Meeting 2024/25 (Coming Soon!)

Welcome! This is the Redwood Middle School Science Olympiad Club Website. Our Science Olympiad Club is a great club to learn and have fun. In this Club, students will work as a team and learn many different science-related topics, which cover engineering, nature, space, life-science and many other areas of science. Many of the events can help you in a future career, such as being a food scientist, astronomer, or a code buster.

Each year National Science Olympiad gives a set of 23 science related topics, and members of school teams, each made up of a maximum of 15 students, learn about some of the topics and compete in various tournaments!

There are many events to join, and amazing students and coaches to help you along the way. Join our exhilarating Science Olympiad team!

Science Olympiad Club Leaders

Mr. Matt Owens, SO Club Advisor

Mr. Owens is a 6th grade science teacher at Redwood Middle School.  This is his third year being involved in Science Olympiad and he is very excited to be a part of the Redwood team. Mr. Owens’ interest in the natural world led him to focus on environmental studies at UC Santa Barbara. After college, he followed in the footsteps of many of his family members and became a teacher in a variety of places like Costa Rica, Rock-It Science, and now, Saratoga.  In addition to learning and teaching science, Mr. Owens enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing, mountain biking, and hiking.
