What is BBYO?
BBYO is a worldwide Jewish youth movement. We are a pluralistic and non denominational organization, open to all Jewish teens regardless of their background. Through engaging programming and beneficial leadership opportunities, BBYO is an amazing outlet for teens in grades 8-12. Located in 60 + countries and connecting over 70 000 Jewish teens every year, BBYO fosters Jewish engagement around the globe.
Chapters
In addition to regional programs and events, BBYO is organized into smaller groups called chapters, which provide teens with a close-knit community within the larger region. These chapters are where teens make lasting friendships, plan and participate in programs together, and find a sense of belonging.
Here in Red River Region, we’re proud to have three AZA (Aleph Zadik Aleph, our teen fraternity) chapters—Dynasty, Chadda, and Alophim—and three BBG (B’nai B’rith Girls, our teen sorority) chapters—Chaverim, Bat Sheva, and Gabriels.
After joining BBYO, every teen is welcomed into one of these chapters, giving them an immediate circle of peers and mentors. Chapters are supported by trained staff and advisors, ensuring teens always have guidance, encouragement, and a safe environment while still taking the lead in creating their own experiences. Programs might include anything from Shabbat dinners and holiday celebrations to volunteer projects, game nights, or fun outings—each designed by teens, for teens.
Highlights
BBYO offers a year filled with exciting and meaningful opportunities for Jewish teens. From fun social programs (like laser tag) to giving back through community service (such as J-Serve with Harvest Manitoba), there’s truly something for everyone. Teens also get the chance to experience our unforgettable conventions—overnight programs at camps and hotels—where they build lasting friendships, strengthen their Jewish identity, and develop leadership skills in a safe, supervised setting.
On a global scale, BBYO brings together thousands of Jewish teens each year at International Convention, the largest gathering of its kind. In 2025/2026, IC will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from February 12–16—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for teens to connect with peers from around the world.
And this is just the beginning. BBYO consistently provides unique programs, new experiences, and leadership opportunities throughout the year.

Teen Leadership
BBYO is a teen led organization. Teens are responsible for planning programs. The structure of teen leadership includes a regional board for both AZA and BBG with Godolim (presidents), Sganim (vice presidents), Morim (membership), Mazkirim (social media), Gizborim (treasurer), Shlichim (Jewish enrichment), Meamen/et (sports and recreation) and Sunshine Siblings (spirit and mental health). Each chapter has a board which contains the first four of these positions. All in, every year 40+ leaders step up to lead Red River Region. This years regional presidents are Gregory Hyman (rrrgodol204@gmail.com) and Annie Levene (rrrnsiah@gmail.com). Feel free to reach out to them about any teen directed questions!
