About Us

What is BBYO?

BBYO is a worldwide Jewish youth movement. We are a pluralistic and non denominational organization, open to all Jewish teens regardless of their background. Through engaging programming and beneficial leadership opportunities, BBYO is an amazing outlet for teens in grades 8-12. Located in 60 countries and connecting over 70 000 Jewish teens every year, BBYO fosters Jewish engagement around the globe.

Chapters

In addition to regional events, chapters are smaller groups of teens within the region that connect with programming. In Red River Region we have 3 AZA (Aleph Zadik Aleph) chapters, Dynasty, Chadda and Alophim. We also have 3 BBG chapters (Bnai Brith Girls), Chaverim, Bat Sheva and Gabriels. After joining BBYO, teens are placed in one of these chapters.

Highlights

The BBYO year includes many exciting initiatives and programs including, fun programs (ie; lazer tag), volunteering opportunities (ie; JServe (Harvest Manitoba)), and conventions (overnight programs held at hotels or camps). On the international level, teens are also able to attend International Convention where thousands of teens from around the world gather together. International Convention for 2023 is in Dallas, Texas, from February 16-20. BBYO consistently includes many more opportunities throughout the year. For more information on this programming, reach out to jposner@bbyo.org!

Teen Leadership

BBYO is a teen led organization. Teens are responsible for planning programs. The structure of teen leadership includes a regional board for both AZA and BBG with Godolim (presidents), Sganim (vice presidents), Morim (membership), Mazkirim (social media), Gizborim (treasurer), Shlichim (Jewish enrichment), Meamen/et (sports and recreation) and Sunshine Siblings (spirit and mental health). Each chapter has a board which contains the first four of these positions. All in, every year 40+ leaders step up to lead Red River Region. This years regional presidents are Ethan Levene (rrrgodol204@gmail.com) and Sophie Braunstein (rrrnsiah@gmail.com). Feel free to reach out to them about any teen directed questions!
