Welcome & Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Welcome!

The Red Oak PFA is excited to have you with us for the 2023-2024 school year!

What is Red Oak PFA?

The PFA (Parent-Faculty Association) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support educational activities at Red Oak Elementary.

Can I join the PFA?

Absolutely!  We would love to have you join us. We are all volunteers who want to be involved in our child’s school and education.  We also have a lot of FUN together...shhh...don’t let the secret out! Or go ahead and spread the word! You will have an opportunity to join with a $15 annual membership fee in fall when we hold our re-enrollment.

What is the purpose of Red Oak PFA?

Our two primary functions are to raise funds to provide educational programs, materials and services for the school that are not paid for by the school district; and to maintain a line of communication between home and school. We hold monthly meetings that we encourage members to attend.  Our main source of communication is via a Weekly Rattler newsletter. In addition, we send messages or distribute flyers throughout the school year.

What does Red Oak PFA pay for?

Each year our annual operating budget is adjusted slightly based on new needs of the school. Some of the programs and positions that donations/fundraising efforts have paid for during previous school years are:

What fundraisers will I have the opportunity to contribute to?

Give to Grow Donation

We begin each school year with Give to Grow. Giving is the simplest way to provide positive resources and accomplish Growth for your Red Oak student. Participation of any level helps Red Oak PFA continue providing the positions and programs that make Red Oak AMAZING! This raises a large portion of the funding for our budget.

Shared Classroom Supplies Donation

We begin each school year by paying for classroom supplies that will be provided to your student. Yes, you heard correctly, you don’t have to go shopping in the chaos of the school supply section at your local store looking for all the glue sticks, markers, crayons, etc.!  You are very welcome! If you enjoy the back-to-school shopping, then by all means a list will be provided and you can enjoy your adventure.

Yearbook & Spirit Wear Sales
Families may purchase school yearbooks and spirit wear to have a memory keepsake and show their Red Oak Pride!

FUNdraising Events
We hold various FUNdraising events during the school year to continue raising the funds necessary for our annual budget. Events we have had in the past include: Jog-a-thon, Dance-a-thon, Movie Nights, Paint Events, Halloween Events, Bingo Event, School Dances, Family Fun Night Event, Bowling Events, Holiday Boutiques, Science Night, Carnival and many more.

Restaurant Nights & Community Rebate Programs
We also have several restaurant nights during the year to help families avoid cooking after school, and in return we benefit by a % given back from the restaurant sales. Community rebate programs set up with Amazon, Ralphs, and Box Tops means every time you shop a portion is given back to Red Oak PFA, it’s that easy!

What is Corporate Matching?

Corporate Matching is another way that Red Oak PFA maximizes fundraising efforts. Many companies will match funds donated by parents to Red Oak PFA. A list of current companies is available on our webpage, but that doesn’t mean your company won’t; just that you may be the first to inquire on behalf of Red Oak PFA. We are always happy to help you with questions related to Corporate Matching...just ask!
