Registration for the 25-26 Mason-Dixon league is now open!
The Mason Dixon Wrestling League (MDWL) is an amateur youth league for wrestlers up to age 14, serving Northern Virginia, the West Virginia Panhandle, Hagerstown, Maryland, and south of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. About 19 teams practice and compete from early November through early March.
MDWL welcomes beginners and experienced athletes alike. Red Lion focus on introducing newcomers to the sport, building skills for high school wrestling, and instilling strong sportsmanship. At events, wrestlers are matched with opponents of similar weight and experience. Each winter season includes 8–9 Sunday competitions rotating across Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.
To qualify for the end-of-year tournament, each wrestler must participate in at least four events. The championship brackets combine all experience levels within age and weight groups. Red Lion continues to host a number of Sunday events, but we also travel to various Northern Virginia and West Virginia clubs.
Red Lion's goal is to provide high-quality training and competitive opportunities that help athletes grow on the mat while learning life lessons that shape well-rounded individuals.
