As the Sonoma County Office of Education states on their website, the SCOE Portrait of a Graduate is "a vision of what Sonoma County students need in order to be successful in our economy, in our community, and in life." These traits will help me in all aspects, and each has been practiced extensively throughout my student career.

Curiosity

Curiosity drives my every move in life. I love to explore concepts, environments, and expand my knowledge in a range of subjects. Some of my favorite things to explore are marine ecosystems and different art mediums. Pictured on the left is me trying out glassblowing, a form of art I was curious about.

Empathy

During my Work Based Learning Project, I talked to many people with unique opinions and experiences. I was able to talk and empathize with each opinion they all had. I came to the valuable realization that in order to get things done and have positive experiences, you have to have empathy and be tolerant to a range of perspectives. To the right is an image of me from that project.

Communication

Communication is key in any relationship, whether that be workplace or personal. In NUEVA's production of The Phantom Tollbooth, I communicated with other actors to plan our scenes.

Collaboration

Through the National Arts Honors Society club at my school, I had the opportunity to be the co-director of a mural project. Each painting session, I helped up to ten people find parts to work on, and encouraged people to experiment with new techniques.

Ethics

Ethics are a big part of my decision-making in every aspect of my life. I think about how my actions affect people and the planet as a whole, and try to make everything as fair as possible for everyone involved. Pictured is me listening to a tour guide of a marine lab explaining connections between humans and marine life.

Initiative

I took initiative in applying for the Creative Youth Awards with a self-portrait, and it paid off! I won an award of $100 and got to display my art at their showcase. On the right is a picture of me with the art at the showcase.
