How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
If you want active noise cancellation and a sweatproof build for hard training, choose RED STAR TEC T-90; if you need marathon battery life, a pocket-sized case and app-based sound tuning, choose JLab Go Air Pop+.
• RED STAR TEC T-90 — biggest strength: Active Noise Cancellation with an IPX6 sweatproof shell — the only one of the two that actively fights background noise and is explicitly built for sweat.
• RED STAR TEC T-90 — biggest trade-off: 6 hours per charge and a 1.5-hour charge time, with no companion app and no stated case reserves.
• JLab Go Air Pop+ — biggest strength: 9 hours in each bud plus 26+ hours in the case (35+ total), with an integrated USB-C cable and JLab app EQ control.
• JLab Go Air Pop+ — biggest trade-off: No noise cancellation at all — just a "Be Aware" transparency mode — and a plastic/foam build that doesn't advertise a water-resistance rating.
• Pick the T-90 if you want noise cancelling, gaming mode and gym-proof durability.
• Pick the Go Pop+ if you want the longest possible listening time, the smallest case, and software EQ.
The T-90 is the more feature-loaded of the two on paper. It uses Environmental Noise Cancellation via built-in microphones to cut down background sound, and it runs SBC/ANC codec support for what RED STAR TEC describes as rich bass. In practice, that combination is aimed at people who take calls and listen in noisy places — a commute, a shared office, a busy street.
Its second personality is gaming. A dedicated Gaming Mode promises ultra-low latency so audio stays synced with what's on screen, and a Music Mode switches the tuning toward deeper bass. Both are toggled through touch controls that also handle volume, playback, calls and an AI voice assistant. There's no app here — it's all on-bud gestures and a multifunction button.
Where it asks for patience: 6 hours of average battery life per charge and a 1.5-hour charge time. There's a portable charging case, so you can top up on the go, but RED STAR TEC doesn't quote extra hours from the case the way JLab does. In my opinion, the T-90 is for the buyer who values noise cancelling, low-latency gaming and sweat resistance more than raw endurance.
Skip it if your priority is all-day battery, if you want to tune your own EQ in an app, or if you prefer a case small enough to forget it's in your pocket.
JLab Go Air Pop+: Who It's For
The Go Pop+ plays a different game entirely: endurance, size and software. Each bud is rated for 9+ hours, and the charging case adds 26+ more, for 35+ hours total. Ten minutes of charging in the case gives you roughly an hour of playback, and the case has its own built-in USB-C cable — no separate cord to lose.
The physical design is the other headline. JLab says the case is smaller than a credit card and the buds are its smallest yet — 15% smaller and 40% lighter than the earlier Go Air. For gym bags, jeans pockets and running, that matters more than spec-sheet bravado.
Sound and control are app-driven. Download the JLab app and you get EQ presets — JLab Signature, Balanced and Bass Boost — plus the ability to remap touch functions and adjust Be Aware mode, which pipes ambient sound in so you can hear traffic or a training partner. A 6mm dynamic driver covers 20 Hz–20 kHz, the same frequency range as the T-90. Each bud has its own MEMS microphone for calls, and you can use either bud solo.
The bundle also includes Cloud Foam earbud tips, which expand in your ear after insertion to hold a seal and reduce fatigue, alongside three sizes of standard gel tips. Pairing is automatic on removal, with Google Fast Pair on Android for locating a lost bud.
The honest trade-off: there is no noise cancellation. The noise control field is listed as "None" — Be Aware is transparency, not ANC. There's also no stated IP rating, so heavy sweat or rain isn't something JLab promises against here, and the enclosure is plastic and foam rather than a rubberised sports shell. I'd steer toward the Go Pop+ if battery life, portability and custom sound are what you care about, and away from it if you need active quiet or a waterproof guarantee.

• Best for battery life → JLab Go Air Pop+. 9 hours per bud plus 26+ in the case beats 6 hours per charge.
• Best for workouts and sweat → RED STAR TEC T-90. IPX6 sweatproof and a secure in-ear fit versus no stated water rating.
• Best for gaming and video → RED STAR TEC T-90. Gaming Mode targets ultra-low latency for audio sync.
• Best for travel and portability → JLab Go Air Pop+. A case smaller than a credit card with a built-in USB-C cable.
• Best for customising sound → JLab Go Air Pop+. The JLab app offers EQ presets and touch remapping; the T-90 has no app.
• Best for calls in noisy places → RED STAR TEC T-90. ENC microphones are designed to reduce background noise on voice.
• Best for fitting a wide range of ears → JLab Go Air Pop+. Three gel tip sizes plus expanding Cloud Foam tips.
• Best for charging speed → JLab Go Air Pop+. Ten minutes yields about an hour of playtime, versus a 1.5-hour full charge on the T-90.
My Verdict
On paper, yes. The T-90 has an IPX6 sweatproof rating and a secure in-ear design with S–L tips, while JLab doesn't state a water-resistance rating for the Go Pop+. If sweat and weather are your concern, the T-90 is the safer choice.
No. Its noise control is listed as "None." It offers Be Aware mode, which lets ambient sound in rather than blocking it. If you want active noise cancellation, the RED STAR TEC T-90 is the one with ANC.
The JLab Go Air Pop+. It's rated for 9+ hours per bud with 26+ extra hours in the case, while the RED STAR TEC T-90 is rated at 6 hours per charge with a 1.5-hour charge time.
