I am new to the Solarwinds world but have several alerts setup in the Advanced Alert Manager in Orion. I am now trying to monitor an old fax server we have. I want to monitor the event logs for an event id and alert if less than two matches per hour are sent. However I do not know what option to select under "Type of Property to Monitor" under the Edit Alert section.

From what you're describing you would want to look at the Windows Event Log Monitor first to define the criteria of the event/s you're looking for. From there the alerting should more or less take care of itself, provided you're using the out-of-the-box "Alert me when an application is down" alert.

It's can either be the APM Application or Component alert. However, to first create the monitor, you need to get into the website and configure the monitor from the SAM Settings. From there go into Manage Templates and search for Windows Events. This should allow you to find the template and start getting it configured for the server you wish to monitor.

If you continue to have problems with removal of the "windows warning alert" virus, reset your Microsoft Edge browser settings. Click the Edge menu icon (at the top right corner of Microsoft Edge) and select Settings.

The Windows 365 Alerts system notifies you when specific events occur in your Cloud PC environment, like connection, provisioning, or image upload failures. By default, these alerts appear in the Microsoft Intune admin center as pop-up notifications (you can also turn on email notifications). You can customize the built-in alert rules:

I was wondering if there is an easy way to trigger an e-mail alert on Windows Server 2008 when any logical disk partitions become low on space. I have 2 SQL servers that have come close to running out of disk space because of the DB log files.

One simple way to get Windows Server 2008 to send low disk space e-mail alerts is to use Task Scheduler and the System Log. If the free space falls below the percentage specified in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\DiskSpaceThreshold, an event is recorded in the System Log that can trigger a task to send an e-mail message.

After the script is saved in local drive, it can be easily run using powershell and tested. Once script seems to work fine, then it can be scheduled to run everyday or every hour based on requirement using windows task scheduler. This article explains how to run a script using task scheduler. _HowTo/004_SharePointActions/012_SchedulingPowerShell.htm

I don't care if a prompt comes up, an email or something that appears on my desktop. I want to be notified if something goes wrong. On my server, crontab emails me about errors - which is great. I want something like that on my windows 7 local computer.

This is just a quick note for anyone into scripting, but not so into scripting that command line work is second nature. I have wanted to be able to create an audible alert once a script is done for a while now, as I am often up and about the core facility on various microscopes yet still want to know when a script is finished so that I could start another, or adjust a parameter and run another test.

The problem is if we launch the application second time and we have another window such as Notepad or paint opened on top of my application, the alert window is not brought in front and it remains behind these opened windows.

In my last post. Step-by-Step: How to Trigger an Email Alert from a Windows Event that Includes the Event Details using Windows Server 2016, I showed you how to send an email alert based upon specific Windows EventIDs being logged in a Windows Event Log. While that works great for most events it is not ideal if you want to be notified when a specific Windows Service starts or stops.

Here is an example of a Powershell script that when used in conjunction with Task Scheduler which will send an email alert automatically when any specified Event is logged in the Windows Event Log. In my environment I saved this script to C:\Alerts\ServiceAlert.ps1

Many of the Google search results for that error indicate that the error is benign and include instructions on how to suppress the error instead of fixing it. However, I was pretty sure this error was the cause of my current failure to be able to send an email alert from a Scheduled Event that was triggered from a monitored Event Log entry, so I needed to fix it.

This concludes my series on configuring email alerts. In this series I covered covered configuring alerts based on Perfmon counters, Event Log Entries and in this article Windows Service Start and Stop events. Of course you can extend these Powershell scripts described in these articles to do more than just send emails. Many alerts or unexpected service stoppages generally require some remediation, so why not just script out the recovery steps and let the triggered task take care of the issue for you?

Hello Mickey and welcome to the Community!

Thank you for letting us know about this.

It's good to know that you did not call the number from the alert that popped up on your computer. The message that you saw is fake and is only trying to scare you. Basically, what you did is already enough since you did not let anyone get into your computer. The most important thing in this kind of scenario is getting rid of the message. Or if possible, it will be better if you can reach out to us so we can gather information to prevent this from happening again.

This type of technical support scam is very rampant nowadays. The message itself does not have the capability to harm your computer unless you will call the number indicated on the message and let someone have access to your computer.

If ever that this will happen again, please do not ever call the number. Instead, you may reach us through phone or chat support. You may click here for our contact information.

Take a look to the screen capture: i can see the yellow triangle; SEE RELATED ALERTS, but if i click nothing appears, no alert windows, nothing. Also if i try to draw a roof, for example, not closed, i don't see the windows that alerts you and mark where is the problem...

This recall involves Pella's Architect Series venting wood and aluminum-clad casement windows. The following four custom-made casement window types are included in this recall: all venting hurricane impact products with side pivot hardware, all venting casements with a frame height greater than 96 inches, all venting casements with a frame width wider than 35 inches, and all venting casements with a frame width greater than 29 inches and a vent height greater than 47 inches with side pivot hardware. Can you provide an example of a search query or script I can use to tell if a windows server is shutdown or down.i am looking for the best way to set up an shutdown or down status alert for windows server.

May be this would work based on Windows EventCodes description. Assuming you have Windows add-on running and indexing the WinEventLogs from these windows servers that you want to find when they shutdown.

@Vishal2 As @gcusello answered without forwarder installed on Linux it's not possible. You have the solution already. As your original query was already answered regarding windows you could Accept the solution and open a new post for someone to answer related to linux.

if you like (but I think that's unuseful) you can create two perimeters files (called e.g. win_perimeter.csv and x_perimeter.csv to separately monitor winsows and Linux server and create two different alerts, one for windows and one for Linux, but I don't like this.

as I said, the operative systems isn't relevant, so if you have to monitor many windows servers and one Linux server, you can add also a Linux hostname in the perimeter.csv lookup containing all the windows servers.

Alert windows are notifications that are typically displayed for a short time at the bottom edge of the screen, and automatically disappear after a delay. If you require native Windows Modern notifications, use the Toast Notification Manager component instead.

When I am watching a YouTube video in full screen and then exit full screen ESET Smart Security flashes an alert through the Windows 10 notification sidebar. The message is telling me there is a problem and to compound this ignorant message it tells me to click the alert to learn more but when I do nothing happens, nothing pops up and ESET does not load to tell me what it is upset about. This is a seemingly worthless alert that does nothing to tell me what is wrong and because it is so utterly vague I have got no clue how to disable it? I have seen several other posts about this and not a one of them offers a viable solution to this problem. I find it extremely irritating when a software as critical to me as my AV software is does not offer anything of value when it thinks something is wrong. I am not necessarily blaming ESET for this and I think overall the Windows 10 notification app is just another worthless thing that Microsoft has put out. I dont necessarily want to disable it because every once in a while it does actually provide something useful that needs my attention, but since it seems Microsoft is getting more and more abusive of my computer with every release taking more and more control away from me at every turn, it seems to me ESET would fix this, or at least go back to what it used to do and use the system tray icon to deliver important messages to me and not rely on the that Microsoft puts out? e24fc04721
