About Me

I am currently the coordinator for ESL/SSL programs with the Boulder Public Library District. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. In May, 2024 I defended my dissertation A Language Policy Ethnography of Latine Families Navigating the Transition from a TWBE Elementary School to Middle School to earn a doctorate in Equity, Bilingualism & Biliteracy from the School of Education at CU Boulder. Before moving to Colorado, I was a dual language middle school teacher in Baltimore. I grew up in the DMV (DC metro area) and while my family is still back East, I’ve lived in Texas and Panama in addition to Colorado and Maryland.

Before I was a teacher, I served in the Peace Corps, baked wedding cakes, bartended, worked in a museum, and built trails with high schoolers in parks in DC and Baltimore. I love to be outside, whether hiking, biking, camping, or climbing, and I am always embarking on a new craft project.

I approach language education and policy through an ecological lens, considering how teachers, families, students, and other stakeholders influence their implementation and how these programs and policies serve, or fail to serve, linguistically marginalized children, families, and communities.
