While the original alignment seems to have followed the northbound and southbound junction roads, these have been heavily regraded since the days of the old highway. There is a partial graded shelf above the northbound junction road that may be leftover from the original grade, but it is almost impossible to confirm that.
For a long time, I thought the Boyd Loop Road was actually the original highway, especially with Conde McCullough's Adkisson Bridge over Fifteenmile Creek, but this was apparently never a part of The Dalles-California Highway.
Finally, why include Starveout Creek in the headings here? Well, how can you not!?! Dang! I strongly suspect that this name has something to do with the Meek's Cutoff wagon train, and I'll be adding some content on that soon enough.
A milepost was probably once located along this stretch of old Route 4, but with all the regrading here, it is long gone. As with the Milepost 11 location, though, there was another stake here at just about the correct point. Another appears on the next old grade where a milepost once lived, as well. I did manage to get a photo of that one.
