How To Recover Old Google Account

It is really normal to forget our Google account passwords at some point. If you are dealing with different Gmail accounts in one system or multiple devices, you are likely to encounter this situation sooner or later.

This is really frustrating if you have any important details stored in the forgotten Google account. No need to worry now, in this post we will explore the steps to restore your old Google account with a few simple steps.

The steps will be the same to activate any deleted Gmail account within a few seconds. We'll explain more steps in both laptops and desktops for your ready reference.

How To Recover Deleted Gmail Account in Desktop PC ?

1. Go to Google.com in any browser

2. Type "recover your Gmail account" in the search bar

3. Now click on the first result i.e. Account Recovery or you can directly click on this link for Google Account Recovery page.

4. Now enter the Gmail address of the deleted Google account (You can also provide the phone number here)

5. If you enter a wrong email ID, it will show an error as shown below (here we will assume that you know your Google account address)

6. Enter the deleted Gmail address correctly again and click on “Next”

7. Now it will prompt you to enter the last password associated with that account (provided you remember the same password :-p)

Note: Here last password does not mean the last recently used password, you can enter any old password associated with that Gmail account

8. Enter the password correctly, then finally click "Next"

9. If the credentials are correct, you will be successfully registered in the respective device using the recovered Google account.

Note: If you have already forgotten your last password, you can try to use other methods to verify your identity to Google. Simply click on the "Forgot your password" link and follow the steps (you will be asked to authenticate by entering a single code that you will receive either in the mobile phone or in the recovery mail address). Then finally set a new password and sign in to your old Google account.

Now we will see the steps to reactivate any deleted Google account. For this, the first condition is that you must try the following steps for any deleted Google account.

So once you delete a Google account, just follow these steps to reactivate the deleted account

1. Click the Google Account Recovery URL

2. Enter the address of the deleted Gmail account correctly

3. You will then see the message “This account was deleted recently and can be recovered. Click Next to try to restore this account”, now click on the “Next” option

4. Enter the last remembered password for this deleted account and click Next (Hope you will remember the same)

5. Finally, a message will appear showing the success message.

In the above steps, it is assumed that you remember exactly which of your last password (which rarely happens perfectly). If you do not remember the password, then follow the steps as below (follow the steps up to step 3 as above and then read the steps below):

4. Once you have clicked Next, you will now see the box that asks you for the last remembered password. Since you don't remember the password, click on the "Try another method" option at the bottom left corner

5. Now without your password, you have two options to recover the account, i.e. via your associated mobile phone number and using the recovery email address (which you must provide at the time of first registration)

6. Provided you have your phone number handy, select the 'Call' or 'Text' option (you can even click on the 'I don't have my phone' option, to also use your recovery email ID to receive the code)

Note: If your mobile phone number is not already registered to a Google account, Google may also ask you to confirm the mobile number manually (it will show you the last two digits for your reference)

The same may be repeated with the recovery email address as well, just confirm the recovery email ID to proceed:

7. Select any of the two options to verify your identity, in our case we choose “Text” (a text message will be sent to your mobile number)

8. Enter the code correctly in the space provided (there is an option to resend the code as well)

9. Finally, click Next and set the new password

10. Once you have set the new password, click Save Password. Now finally you will see the message below:

Virtually all Android smartphone features are tied to your Gmail account. The use of Google Play Store, Youtube, Google search page, Google Drive, Google Maps and several others are linked to the registered Gmail account. That being the case, the feeling is almost frustrating if you lose access to your Gmail account. So how do you recover a lost Gmail account?

Before I show you how to recover a lost Gmail account, it's important that you still have the email address. Maybe you have multiple email addresses with similar usernames. If it's been a while since you logged into the account, you may have forgotten the exact address. In this case, you can ask any of your contacts with whom you have exchanged emails to send you their correct Gmail address.

Note that you will find the recovery process much easier if you are using a device and browser that you have used to log in to your Gmail account in the past. If you are connecting to a Wi-Fi network, also use a familiar connection that you have used in the past, if you want to recover a lost Gmail account.

Also, you cannot perform these recovery steps on a phone. You must do this on a desktop or laptop computer.

How to recover your lost Gmail username

If you don't have someone to send you your Gmail address, go to the Google login page > under the email column, click Forgot Email.

Enter your account recovery phone number or email address > on the next page, enter your full account name > follow the prompts and instructions to confirm it's your account.

Now, a list of usernames that match your account will appear. You should be able to identify your missing Gmail username/address in the list.

A code will be sent to the phone number. Enter the code and click the Verify button to complete the rest of the recovery process.

You will be prompted to reset your password. Choose a strong password that you haven't used with this account in the past.

If you didn't set up a mobile phone recovery number on your Gmail account before you lost it, you can use your recovery email address to reset your password and gain account access.

How to Recover Lost Gmail Account Without Phone Number and Recovery Email

This is usually a difficult option as Google tries to protect all accounts from being hacked. To make this easier, make sure you're using a device that you've used to log into your account in the past.

Enter a new and strong password > Re-enter the new password to confirm it

Everything is ready and new now. Please note, however, that if you did not set a security question when creating your email, this option will not be available to you. The security question is the only way to recover a lost Gmail account without a recovery email or phone number.
