Welcome to WhatsHidden ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and processes information when you use our services.
By using WhatsHidden, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information Processing & Device-Only Storage
The core value of WhatsHidden is to safeguard your data.
Local Storage: All messages, recovered chats, media files, and analytical statistics are processed and stored locally on your device's internal database (using Android Room).
No Server Uploads: We do not host, operate, or maintain external servers that store your message histories or WhatsApp backup exports. Your text messages, media files, and contacts never leave your device.
2. Permissions We Request
To provide our core features, the app requests specific permissions:
A. Notification Access Permission (NotificationListenerService)
Purpose: This permission allows the app to detect and capture incoming notifications from WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business.
Use: When a notification is received, the app logs the message. If the sender subsequently deletes a message, our app marks it as "Deleted" in your local history so you can view it.
Scope: Only notifications from WhatsApp are analyzed. We do not read or record notifications from other applications.
B. Storage & SAF (Storage Access Framework) Access
Purpose: Allows the app to retrieve media attachments (photos, videos, audio, documents) and import chat histories that you manually export from WhatsApp.
Use: Selected .zip or .txt backup files are parsed locally on the device to populate your chat backup histories and statistics.
C. Biometric Authentication Permission
Purpose: Enables the "Biometric Lock" feature.
Use: We use standard Android secure prompt APIs (fingerprint/face recognition) to restrict access to the app. Biometric verification is handled natively by your device's operating system; our app does not collect, read, or store your biometric data.
We may utilize standard third-party SDKs to improve the app's functionality:
Google Play Services: For core Android application functionality, updates, and reviews.
Payment Processor / Subscriptions SDK: To manage premium subscriptions. Payment processing is handled securely through the Google Play Store billing platform.
These third parties have access to your information only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
We value your trust in providing us your information. All local databases are protected using standard Android system sandboxing. However, since the database is stored on your device, the security of your data also depends on the security settings of your phone (such as device passcode, biometrics, and physical access).
Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take necessary actions.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
