Thank you for choosing Recoverly (the “App”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the information you share with us. Recoverly is built and maintained by a single independent developer, which means the App follows a strict minimal-data approach. Almost all processing happens locally on your device, and no personal files ever leave your phone unless you deliberately export or share them yourself.
---
1. Scope
This privacy policy applies to Recoverly for Android, including all future updates and any support services that reference or link to it.
---
2. What We Collect and Why
* Device storage access
We request access to file paths and basic metadata such as file names, sizes, and timestamps. This is necessary to scan for and locate deleted items so that the recovery feature can work properly. At no point does the actual content of your files leave your device.
* Optional diagnostics through Firebase Crashlytics
With your consent, we may collect crash logs, anonymised device details (such as model and Android version), and error stack traces. This information helps us improve app stability and fix bugs faster. If you do not enable crash reporting in settings, nothing is collected.
* Optional usage analytics through Firebase Analytics
With your permission, we collect anonymous information about how you use the App, such as which screens you open, which buttons you tap, and how long your sessions last. These analytics are never linked to your personal identity and exist only to guide future improvements. The option is disabled by default, and you can enable or disable it anytime in settings.
* Ads and monetisation through Google AdMob
Recoverly uses AdMob to show ads in order to support free usage of the App. Ads are set to non-personalised by default. This means the ads you see are not based on your personal activity or identity but on general context. AdMob may still process device identifiers as part of its system. You can further control ad personalisation anytime through your Google account settings.
* Support correspondence
If you contact us for help, we collect your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. This is used only for responding to your questions or resolving issues you report.
We do not collect, transmit, or store your photos, videos, documents, or any recovered file content. All scanning and recovery happen entirely on your device.
---
3. Permissions We Request
* READ\_MEDIA\_IMAGES, READ\_MEDIA\_VIDEO, READ\_MEDIA\_AUDIO, READ\_MEDIA\_FILES (or READ\_EXTERNAL\_STORAGE on Android 12 and below) to scan and list deleted files.
* WRITE\_EXTERNAL\_STORAGE (for Android 10 and below) to allow saving recovered files to a location of your choice.
* Optional root access if your device is already rooted. This allows a deeper scan of unallocated memory blocks for higher recovery chances. The App never tries to root your device.
Permissions are requested at runtime with clear explanations so you can decide whether to grant them.
---
4. How We Use Your Information
* To provide and maintain the core file recovery functions.
* To improve performance and fix bugs using Firebase Crashlytics, but only if you enable this option.
* To analyse feature usage trends using Firebase Analytics, but only if you enable this option.
* To display safe, non-personalised ads using AdMob.
* To respond to your support emails and provide help.
* To comply with applicable legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of users.
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not track you across apps or websites.
---
5. Data Storage and Security
* Local-first processing: all recovery work is performed directly on your device.
* Secure transport: when diagnostics or emails are sent, they are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS/TLS channels.
* Retention: crash and analytics data are kept for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted or aggregated. Support emails are stored until the issue is resolved and then retained for up to 12 months before being deleted.
* Deletion options: you can clear cached indexes within the App at any time. You may also disable analytics or crash reporting in settings, and new reports will stop immediately.
---
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location (EU/EEA, UK, California, India, or other regions with privacy laws), you may have the right to:
* Access the personal data we hold about you.
* Request corrections to inaccurate data.
* Request deletion of your data.
* Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
* Receive a portable copy of your data.
* Withdraw consent at any time.
Most of these rights can be exercised directly within the App’s settings. For additional requests, you may reply to any prior email thread with us, and we will respond within 30 days.
---
7. Children’s Privacy
Recoverly is not intended for children under 13 years of age, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
---
8. Third-Party Services
Recoverly includes integrations with Google services:
* Firebase Crashlytics to capture crash logs in order to improve app stability.
* Firebase Analytics to gather anonymous usage statistics.
* AdMob to serve ads that support free access to the App. Ads are non-personalised by default.
Google may process device identifiers as part of these services in accordance with its own privacy terms. You can disable Firebase and AdMob controls at any time in settings or through your Google account preferences.
---
9. International Data Transfers
If you enable diagnostics, analytics, or use AdMob, some information may be processed on Google servers located outside your country. These transfers rely on recognised legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure compliance with privacy laws.
---
10. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy in the future to reflect changes in laws, regulations, or features of the App. When updates occur:
* The updated policy will be published inside the App and on the Google Play Store listing.
* The “Last updated” date at the top will change.
* If changes are significant, the App will notify you directly and may request new consent.
---
