RecordQuest (“RecordQuest,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information RecordQuest collects, how that information is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
By using RecordQuest, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
When you create a RecordQuest account, we may collect:

Username
Display name
Authentication and account identifiers
Profile information you choose to provide
Your password is processed through our authentication provider. RecordQuest does not have access to your plain-text password.
When you use RecordQuest, we may store information you add to your account, including:
Albums in your collection
Albums in your wishlist
Album ratings
Favorite tracks
Notes
Record condition
Record format
Purchase information you choose to enter
Dates items were added
Some of this information may be visible to other users through your public profile or social features.
RecordQuest includes social features. We may collect and store:
Accounts you follow
Accounts that follow you
Public profile information
Collection and wishlist activity
Store check-ins
Achievements
Collection statistics
Information displayed publicly in the app may be viewed by other RecordQuest users.
To help keep RecordQuest safe, we may collect and store information related to safety and moderation features, including:
Accounts you choose to block
Reports you submit about other users
The reason selected for a report
Optional details you provide with a report
Information necessary to investigate abuse, spam, harassment, impersonation, or other violations
Reports are not displayed publicly to other users. Block relationships are used to limit interactions and visibility between affected accounts.
We may review and use moderation information to investigate reports, enforce platform rules, prevent misuse, protect users, and maintain the safety and integrity of RecordQuest.
With your permission, RecordQuest may use your device’s location to:
Find nearby record stores
Calculate approximate distance to stores
Improve store-search results
Support store check-ins
You may also search using a city, ZIP code, or address without granting access to your device location.
RecordQuest does not use location information for advertising or cross-app tracking. Device location is used to provide location-based features and is not intended to create a continuous location history.
Store check-ins that you choose to make may be saved to your account and may appear in social activity.
You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Some store-finder features may not work correctly without location access.
If you enable notifications, RecordQuest may collect and store a push-notification token associated with your device and account.
This token is used to deliver notifications related to RecordQuest, such as social activity or account updates.
You can disable notifications through your device settings.
RecordQuest and its service providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the app, including:
Device or operating-system information
App version
Request timestamps
IP address
Error and diagnostic information
Authentication and security logs
We may use information collected through RecordQuest to:
Create and manage accounts
Authenticate users
Save and synchronize collections and wishlists
Display profiles and social activity
Provide follower and following features
Find nearby record stores
Process store check-ins
Calculate achievements and collection statistics
Deliver push notifications

RecordQuest does not use personal information for targeted advertising.
RecordQuest is a social application. Depending on how you use the app, other users may be able to view:
Your username
Your display name
Your profile
Your collection
Your followers and following
Your achievements
Your collection statistics
Activity associated with your account
Store check-ins you choose to make
Do not include sensitive personal information in usernames, display names, notes, or other publicly visible areas.
RecordQuest relies on third-party services to provide certain features.
RecordQuest uses Supabase for services that may include:
Account authentication
Database hosting
Cloud synchronization
Server-side functions
Account deletion
Storage of profile and app data
Supabase processes information on RecordQuest’s behalf to provide these services.
RecordQuest uses Google Maps Platform and Google Places services to provide:
Record-store search results
Addresses
Ratings
Business hours
Distance information
Location predictions
Directions
Search terms, approximate location information, and technical request information may be transmitted to Google when you use these features.
RecordQuest uses MusicBrainz and the Cover Art Archive to retrieve:
Album information
Artist information
Release information
Album-cover artwork
Search terms and album identifiers may be sent to these services when you search for or view albums.
Album artwork, artist names, album titles, and related trademarks are the property of their respective rights holders. RecordQuest displays album artwork solely for identification, cataloging, and informational purposes in connection with users’ record collections. RecordQuest is not affiliated with or endorsed by the artists, labels, or other rights holders represented in the app.
RecordQuest may use Expo’s notification services and Apple Push Notification Service to deliver push notifications.
Push tokens and notification-delivery information may be processed by these providers.
Account-related emails, including authentication and password-reset emails, may be processed by Supabase or another email-delivery provider used by RecordQuest.
These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
RecordQuest may share information only in the following circumstances:
With service providers needed to operate the app
When you choose to make information public through social features
When required by law, court order, or valid legal process
To investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or misuse
To protect the rights, safety, or property of RecordQuest, its users, or others
As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, or transfer of assets, subject to applicable privacy protections
RecordQuest does not sell your personal information.
RecordQuest does not share personal information with third parties for targeted advertising.
RecordQuest uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information.
These measures may include:
Authentication controls
Encrypted network connections
Database access policies
Row-level security
Server-side authorization
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. RecordQuest cannot guarantee absolute security.
RecordQuest retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to:
Provide the app
Maintain your account
Fulfill the purposes described in this policy
Resolve disputes
Enforce agreements
Meet legal and security obligations
When you delete your account, RecordQuest initiates deletion of your account and associated app data from active systems.
Some information may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, moderation records, or service-provider systems where immediate deletion is not technically possible or where retention is required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement.
You may permanently delete your RecordQuest account inside the app.

RecordQuest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we learn that personal information was collected from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

RecordQuest and its service providers may process and store information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from the laws in your country or region.
