RecordooStudio — Screen Recorder & Editor Last updated: [DATE]
Summary
RecordooStudio does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. There is no server, no account and no analytics. Your recordings stay on your computer.
One optional feature sends data outside your device, and only if you switch it on: automatic subtitles. It is described in full below.
What the extension stores, and where
Everything is stored locally in your own browser, using Chrome's extension storage and IndexedDB:
What
Where
Why
Recorded video and audio
IndexedDB, on your device
So you can edit and export it
Project files (cuts, zooms, subtitles, elements)
IndexedDB, on your device
So you can reopen a project later
Your settings and chosen language
chrome.storage.local, on your device
So the extension remembers your preferences
None of this is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to any cloud by the extension, it is not synced between your devices, and the developer has no access to it.
You can delete all of it at any time by removing recordings in the extension's library, or by uninstalling the extension, which removes its storage with it.
What the extension does NOT do
It does not create an account or ask you to sign in.
It does not contain analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising.
It does not track your browsing.
It does not read, collect or transmit the content of the pages you visit.
It does not sell, rent or share data with third parties. There is no data to sell.
It does not send your recordings anywhere. Exported files go only where you choose to save them.
The one exception: automatic subtitles
The extension offers an optional feature called Auto subtitles from my voice. When you enable it, the extension uses Chrome's built-in Web Speech API to transcribe what you say while recording.
Chrome sends that microphone audio to Google's speech recognition service to transcribe it. This processing is performed by Google, not by the developer of this extension, and is governed by Google's own privacy policy. The developer does not receive, see or store that audio or the resulting text — the text is returned by Chrome and written directly into your local project.
This feature is off by default. A notice appears in the extension's popup whenever it is switched on. If you leave it off, no audio and no text ever leave your device. You can still add subtitles by typing them, or by importing an .srt file produced by any other tool.
Camera and microphone
The extension asks for camera and microphone access so it can record them at your request. The audio and video captured are written to local storage on your device and used only for the recording you asked for. They are not transmitted, except through the optional subtitles feature described above.
You can revoke this access at any time in Chrome's site settings.
Permissions, and why each one is needed
tabCapture — to record the browser tab you choose.
desktopCapture — to record your screen or an application window, after you pick it from Chrome's own picker.
offscreen — Manifest V3 background workers cannot hold a media stream; the recording runs in an offscreen document instead.
storage, unlimitedStorage — to keep your settings and your recordings on your device. Video files are large, hence unlimited storage.
downloads — to save an exported file where you choose.
scripting, activeTab, tabs, and host access to all sites — to draw the recording toolbar, the countdown, the area selector and the annotation canvas on the page you are recording. The extension reads nothing from the page and sends nothing from it. Broad host access is required because you may want to record any page; the extension does nothing on a page until you start a recording there.
notifications — to warn you when something goes wrong during a recording, for example if the microphone could not be opened.
alarms — to run the recording timer and the auto-stop option.
contextMenus — to add the extension's right-click entries.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the date at the top will be updated. Material changes to what leaves your device will also be reflected in the extension's own interface.
