Rui Fukui is a Professor at the University of Tokyo. He received the Ph.D. degree in information science and technology from The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 2009., From 2004 to 2006, he worked at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. From 2009 to 2013, he was a (Project) Assistant Professor with the Department of Mechano-Informatics. From 2013 to 2016, he was an Assistant Professor (a full-time Lecturer) with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Tokyo, where he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Human and Engineered Environmental Studies, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, since 2016. His research interests include the intelligent mechanical systems based on “Distribution and Integration.” Concretely, he works on mechanism design, sensor system development, and novel application of machine learning technology., Dr. Fukui is a member of the IEEE, Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME), The Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE), and The Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (JSTP).
