Reclaim is a study-focus app for college students. It blocks the apps you choose during the hours you choose, and lets you earn screen time back by finishing steps of your assignments. This policy explains what information Reclaim uses and what happens to it.
Everything Reclaim records stays on your iPhone.
Reclaim has no accounts, no servers, no ads and no tracking.
Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to share it with the "Export my data" button.
Your first name, so the app can greet you.
Your settings: blocked hours, strictness level, daily reminder time.
Your assignments and their steps, which you type in yourself.
Your focus sessions: start and end time, steps planned and finished, minutes earned, and whether the session was completed or partial.
Unlock history: when blocked apps were unlocked, for how long, and whether earned minutes, free minutes, an emergency unlock or a waiting period was used.
Your optional stress check-ins (a 1 to 5 rating after a session).
A random participant ID created on your phone. It isn't linked to your name, email or Apple ID.
To block apps, Reclaim uses Apple's Screen Time tools (the Family Controls framework). You choose which apps and categories to block, and you can turn the permission off at any time in your iPhone's Settings. Apple gives Reclaim a private reference to the apps you pick so it can block them; Reclaim does not read your messages, browsing or what you do inside other apps.
If you turn on the daily study reminder, Reclaim schedules it on your phone. Notifications are not sent from any server.
Reclaim never sends your data anywhere on its own. If you tap Export my data in Settings, Reclaim creates spreadsheet files (CSV) of your sessions and unlocks, labeled with your participant ID, and opens the iPhone share sheet. Where those files go is up to you.
Reclaim was created for a Foundations of Marketing class project at the University of Miami. Students who join the 30-day trial agree separately, through a consent form, to share their exported data and short survey answers with the project team. That data is used only for the class project, identified only by participant ID, and is not sold or shared with anyone else. Joining the trial is voluntary, and participants can stop at any time.
Deleting Reclaim from your iPhone permanently deletes everything it stored. There is no copy anywhere else unless you exported it yourself.
Reclaim is designed for college students and is not intended for children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
