Recipr Privacy Policy

Overview
Recipr is a recipe and shopping list app that enables households to collaborate in real-time. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
Data We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we store your unique user identifier and the display name you choose during setup. Depending on how you sign in:
Email/password: We store your email address for authentication and account recovery.
Sign in with Apple: If you use Apple's email hiding feature, we receive a private relay address instead of your real email.
Sign in with Google: We receive your Google account email address.
User-Generated Content
We store the recipes, shopping lists, and household information you create. This includes:
Recipe titles, ingredients, instructions, chef's notes, labels, serving sizes, and photos
Shopping list items and their bought/unbought status
Household names, membership, and sharing permissions
Usage Data
We track which shopping items you add frequently within each household to provide smart suggestions. This data is stored per household and is not linked to you individually.
Local Device Data
Cooking timers and Live Activities run entirely on your device using Apple's AlarmKit. Timer data is not sent to our servers.
Crash Reports
We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic information. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crash reports include device type, operating system version, and technical details about the crash but do not include personal content like your recipes or shopping lists.
How We Use Your Data
To provide the core functionality of the app (storing and syncing your recipes and shopping lists)
To enable real-time collaboration with other household members
To provide smart suggestions based on your household's frequently added items
To diagnose and fix technical issues
Data Sharing
Within Households
Recipes and shopping lists are shared with members of your households by design. When you join a household, other members can see your display name and any recipes you share with that household.
Recipe Sharing
When you generate a share code for a recipe, anyone with that code can view and import the recipe. Share codes expire after 30 days.
Third-Party Services
We use Firebase (operated by Google) to store your data and provide authentication. Your data is processed in accordance with Google's privacy practices. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore and protected by industry-standard security measures. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your household data is restricted to authenticated household members through Firebase Security Rules.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our servers. When you leave a household, your recipes are unshared from that household and other members will no longer see them.
Your Rights
Access and Deletion
You can view all your data within the app. You can delete your account directly from Settings by tapping "Delete Account" at the bottom of the screen. This will permanently remove:
Your user profile
All recipes you created
All share codes you generated
Your membership in all households (if you are the sole member of a household, that household is also deleted; if you are an admin with other members, admin rights are transferred to another member)
Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. If you prefer, you can also contact us at the email below to request account deletion.
Editing
You can edit your display name at any time in the app settings. You can edit or delete any recipes you created.
Children's Privacy
Recipr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or other means.
