Following the earthquake in March 2025, communities in impacted areas have been rebuilding essential services and livelihoods. Community organizations and small businesses have an important role in supporting recovery and community development, yet are facing challenges in getting reliable and affordable energy access to power their work.
RE:Build is a project implemented by Mee Panyar with the support of the Fourfold Foundation to address this gap. The project provides fully funded, in-kind technical support to install solar power systems for community organizations and small businesses that are delivering social, livelihood, or rebuilding-focused activities in earthquake-impacted communities. Support is provided as a package covering system design, equipment, installation, and basic training, rather than as a cash grant.
Applications are due March 6th, 2026 (11:59PM Myanmar) - Apply now!
RE:Build supports solar installations that reduce energy constraints and operational pressure for community-based organizations and small enterprises.
This may include electricity for:
community spaces
workshops
training spaces
production activities
public services that rely on consistent power (clinics, etc.)
Projects should clearly describe how electricity will be used and how it supports the organisation’s role within its community. RE:Build does not support household-only or personal residential systems, large infrastructure projects, or diesel based systems. Full eligibility details are provided in the Call for Proposals document.
Selected projects receive a fully-funded solar power system, along with technical support for system design and installation.
RE:Build accepts applications through two pathways:
1. Alumni-led Submissions
Mee Panyar alumni may nominate a project in partnership with a local organization that will receive and use the solar system.
In this pathway:
The alumni lead, or alumni-team, acts as the project lead
The partner organization is the system owner and user
The application is submitted jointly
This pathway is intended for alumni who are already working with, or have identified, a suitable partner organization and project idea.
2. Partner Organization Submissions
Organizations can also apply directly themselves, and will be matched with a technical lead.
In this pathway:
The organization applies as the project owner and user
Mee Panyar will match selected organizations with a suitable alumni lead to support system design, installation, and follow-up
Both pathways follow the same selection criteria and receive the same level of technical support.
Before starting, we recommend reading the Call for Proposals document in full. It explains the program scope, eligibility criteria, and what information is needed to assess proposals.
