Purpose: The purpose behind this webinar on Summer Reading Program 2024 is to quickly bring people up to speed who may be working at small public libraries. At the end of this webinar, they should know how to both plan and gain support and funding for the Summer Reading Program 2024.
Analysis: During this webinar, I identify and define goals such as what 8th grade level children should be able to do according to the Georgia Standards of Excellence. The implementation of the Summer Reading Program defines many effective strategies for achieving these objectives.
Additionally, we take a look at two specific grants and walk though the questions and answers. The content we use for the funding process includes Census data, calendars, budgets, and it is all aligned for literacy-based learning according to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
Reflection: These community building projects are so fun for me! I get super excited to be involved in the planning phase of things, and in my experience, so is most of the community. As I mention in the webinar, “There is no such thing as too much community,” when it comes to community building.
