The Comanches: A History of White’s Battalion by Frank M. Myers was first published in 1871. Myers was a Captain in Company A of the 35th Virginia Cavalry for the Confederate States of America. His largely chronological account is 400 pages in length and covers the history of the unit from its founding in 1861 to the end of the Civil War. The original edition was printed in Baltimore, Maryland. It was reprinted atleast three times. Most of the book relates the Comanches' activities outside of Loudoun County, Virginia such as their involvement in the Battle of Gettysburg. Smaller but significant passages relate to their activities in the county.
The History of the Independent Loudoun Virginia Rangers by Briscoe Goodhart was first published in Washington DC in 1896. It was reprinted eight times. Goodhart served as a member of the only Union cavalry unit to come from Virginia. His account is 203 pages in length. Most of the text addresses activities of the Rangers outside of Loudoun, although there is a large portion about their actions in the county.
