This Privacy Policy explains what data the Real or AI mobile app ("the App") collects, why, how it is used, and who it is shared with. By using the App you agree to this policy.
Real or AI estimates whether an image, video, audio clip, or text is AI-generated or real. Detection does not run on your device — the media you submit is sent to our secure backend and to a third-party AI-detection provider for analysis. Results are an estimate, not proof, and the App never claims 100% accuracy.
We collect the minimum needed to run the service: the media you choose to check, an anonymous account identifier, a device identifier used to grant your free credits, purchase records, and standard advertising/diagnostic data.
a) Media you submit for analysis.
When you pick an image/video/audio file, paste or share a social-media link, or enter text, that content is sent to our backend for detection. If you submit a social-media link, our backend retrieves the public media from that post on your behalf so it can be analyzed.
b) Account information.
The App signs you in with an anonymous Firebase account automatically (no name or email required). You may optionally link a Google account to keep your credits across devices. If you do, we receive your Google account identifier and email address.
c) Device identifier.
We use your device's Android ID to grant and protect your free starter credits and to prevent abuse (e.g. repeatedly farming free credits).
d) Purchase information.
If you buy credit packs, the purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We receive the purchase token and product ID to verify the purchase and add credits to your account. We do not receive or store your card or payment details.
e) Advertising identifier.
The App shows ads via Google AdMob, which may use your device's Advertising ID (AAID).
f) Diagnostic / usage data.
We and our providers may collect crash logs, performance data, and basic app-interaction data to keep the service working.
To analyze the media you submit and return an AI-vs-real estimate.
To create and maintain your account and credit balance.
To grant free credits and prevent fraud/abuse.
To verify in-app purchases and add purchased credits.
To display ads and support the free tier.
To diagnose crashes and improve reliability.
We do not sell your personal data.

Submitted media: processed to produce a result and not retained on our servers longer than needed to complete the analysis. A local copy of analyzed media and its result is stored on your device for your history; you can delete it from the App.
Account and credit data: kept while your account exists.
Purchase records: kept as required for fraud prevention and legal/accounting obligations.
History: delete saved results and images from within the App at any time.
Account deletion: to delete your account and associated server data, contact us at support@thecodebage.com
Ads personalization: you can reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device settings.
Permissions: the App uses the Android Photo Picker so it only accesses the specific files you choose — it does not request broad storage access.
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR/EEA, CCPA/California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
Internet — to communicate with our backend and detection services.
Advertising ID (AD_ID) — to show ads.
Photo/media selection — via the Android Photo Picker, limited to files you explicitly choose.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and a secured backend, to protect your data. API secrets are held only on our backend and never shipped inside the App. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Our backend and providers may process data on servers located outside your country. By using the App you consent to such transfers, handled under appropriate safeguards.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
