Previous Events

Over the past two years we've helped over 150 students (Ages 5-16) learn about different STEM careers through speaker events and hands-on experiments. We hope to continue our outreach and impact, thank you for all your support.

High School STEM Speaker Event

First Event, WPS, 160 Herrick Road (Dec, 8, 2024)

This event was our first event, and it was fantastic. We partnered with YWIB to bring four of our five wonderful speakers from different STEM fields to join us and share their journeys. They provided a wonderful insight to our 20+ participants and to us.

BGC Experiment Event

Boys & Girls Club, Newton (June, 27, 2025)

In this event, we had three stations in which around 50 children from ages 5-11 learned about Civil, Mechanical, and Chemical engineering through fun experiments.

BGC Teen Event

Boys & Girls Club, Newton (August 8th, 2025)

In early August, we held another event at the Boys & Girls Club in Newton, where we taught the teens there about a variety different careers in STEM fields, and we ended with a game of jeopardy and prize candy

Ready, Set, STEM! X Speech Club Event

Newton North High School (February 3rd, 2026)

In February, we were invited by Speech Club to help host and speak at a meeting at Newton North High School. This meeting was a career-fair style talk with nonprofits to raise awareness about how to join different missions. We spoke about our organization for about five minutes, covering what we do and how to join our organization. The event was a complete success with around 6 other nonprofit organizations sharing their cause and around 20 attendees.

Different Themed Monthly Series

Boys & Girls Club, Newton (2025-2026 School Year)

(All concepts included are simplified for younger kids, and our goal is to provide exposure, not to make sure they fully understand or to test kids on anything).

Chemistry (Oct 17th)

Experiment: Magnetic Slime

Main skills/learning points: To learn how magnets react while also getting exposure to how some experiments do and don't work.

Kids: 12

Robotics (Nov 9th)

Experiment: Pretend Robot Maze

Main skills/learning points: To learn how precise coding needs to be for a robot to understand while also understanding how troubleshooting works.

Kids: 5

Biology (Jan 10th)

Experiment: Strawberry DNA Extraction

Main skills/learning points: What DNA is, and how all living things have DNA within their cells.

Kids: 16

A memorable quote from our reflection section with the kids was “ I learned that you can use very simple/every day items like dish soap and salt to do something amazing like DNA extraction.”

Circuits (Feb 5th)

Experiment: Light Up Name Tags

Main skills/learning points: What is electricity, what is a circuit, what is needed for a circuit to work.

Kids: 6

A memorable instance from our reflection section was when one of the kids said that they liked how the experiment didn't work immediately the first time, so they could work to try and figure it out.

Geology (Mar 13th)

Experiment: DIY Baking Soda & Vinegar Volcano

Main skills/learning points: What are volcanoes, why do they erupt, what impacts do they have.

Kids: 5

Civil Engineering (Apr 3rd)

Experiment: Build a Bridge to Hold the Most Weight

Main skills/learning points: What are bridges +basics, what types of bridges are there, what does a civil engineer do.

Astronomy (May 26th)

Experiment: Nebula in a Jar

Main skills/learning points: What is a nebula+how they are formed, the types of nebulas and why different types exist

Kids: 8

Neuroscience (Jun 10th)

Experiment: Cup Stacking

Main skills/learning points: How the brain reacts to stress, positive and negative impacts of stress, what stress can look like to different people
