OVERVIEW

Reading Companion is a Chrome browser extension that helps users 

save web pages, highlight text, and add personal annotations. 

This privacy policy explains how the extension handles your data.


DATA STORAGE

All data collected by this extension — including saved pages, 

highlighted text, and annotations — is stored exclusively on 

your local device using Chrome's built-in storage API 

(chrome.storage.local). Your data never leaves your device.


DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

Reading Companion does not:

- Transmit any data to external servers

- Share any data with third parties

- Track your browsing history

- Collect personally identifiable information

- Use cookies or tracking technologies

- Require account creation or login


HOW YOUR DATA IS USED

Data saved by the extension (pages, highlights, annotations) is 

used solely to display your personal reading library within the 

extension popup. It is never used for advertising, analytics, 

or any purpose beyond the extension's core functionality.


DATA DELETION

You can delete any saved page, highlight, or annotation at any 

time using the delete buttons within the extension. Uninstalling 

the extension permanently removes all stored data from your device.


PERMISSIONS

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

- Storage: to save your pages, highlights, and annotations locally

- Tabs: to read the current page title and URL when you save a page

- Scripting: to display highlights and annotation bubbles on pages

- Host permissions: to enable highlighting on pages you are reading


None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data.
