What will you do with the information you have learned so far? How will you use it to reduce the performance gap for your students and support ELA skill growth across the curriculum? This activity is designed to help you decide what can effectively be changed or strengthened in your classroom. You will be using the following scale:
For changes in a classroom it is important to consider red, yellow, and green lights for the teacher as well as for the students. It is best to avoid all red lights if possible. An example combination could be a strategy that is new to the student but not new to the teacher. Plus, the student is comfortable with the curriculum content that is used to practice the strategy. This gives a red light, a yellow or green light, and a green light.
On pages 26-27 of the handout booklet, review the lights and guidelines. Then complete the one minute planning activity.
