*** These resources can help you with building a broad base of knowledge that is recommended for literature courses (such as AP English Language and Composition) or the reading and writing section of the SAT. Even if you are not taking such courses or exams, it is always worthwhile to expand your knowledge about the world around you! :)
Activities
For the SAT/literature courses: Nonfiction can be challenging to read! Write down any words that are unfamiliar to you and summarize the key concepts presented as you read. This can help you practice good active reading strategies!
Presentation/Reflection: What are the most interesting takeaways from your reading? What did you learn?

*** Many of these books are found on lists of recommended reading for AP English Literature and Composition and general high school literature classes. It will help you make note of key themes, characters, symbols, and other important literary elements.
Activities
Verbal: Prepare a summary of the book that you can share with members. What did you love most about this book? Would you recommend it to others? What was your favorite scene? Would you edit the novel in any way if given the opportunity?
Visual: Draw your favorite scene, character, or symbol.
Written: Rewrite a section of the novel or write something new inspired by your reading!
