Genesis : The birth of Reaching Nothingness (Year 2018)

10066 Miles (as the crow flies) separate Fred and Tamatoa.
But that hasn’t prevent them to go for a brand new musical project.

Previously, there was Gholes, an Atmospheric Death Metal band from the south of France created in 1995 by Fred. Tamatoa who at that time lived in the area, joined the band in 1999, until 2006 when he definitively goes back to his native Polynesia. Gholes finally ended its career in 2010 under tragic circumstances.

But inspiration cannot be restrained. The way paved by Gholes wasn’t completely explored (and it probably never will!). This is how, in 2012, Fred starts composing new material, without real aim, just for fun. A few years later, during an instant messaging conversation with Tamatoa, the topic comes up, and tracks are sent to the other end of the world. Tamatoa enjoys the tracks, and more than that, he recently started playing again music after a too long break : Traditional polynesian drums, Death and Black Metal projects with musicians from the vivid polynesian Metal scene. So naturally, he agrees to attempt the adventure, and thus was born Reaching Nothingness.

The first 4 tracks will be gathered on a first EP. Composed by Fred in an extreme and atmospheric vein, all that remains is to find a singer to complete the line-up.

16200 Km (à vol d'oiseau) séparent Fred et Tamatoa.
Cela ne les a pas empêché de se lancer ensemble dans un tout nouveau projet musical.

Auparavant, il y avait Gholes, groupe de Death Metal Atmosphérique basé dans le sud de la France, créé en 1995 par Fred. Tamatoa, qui à l'époque vivait dans la région, intègre le groupe en 1999, jusqu'en 2006 où il repart vivre définitivement en Polynésie, sa terre natale. Finalement, la carrière de Gholes prend fin en 2010, dans de tragiques circonstances.

Mais l'inspiration ne peut pas être contenue indéfiniment. La voie entamée par Gholes n'avait pas encore été complètement explorée (et ne le sera probablement jamais !) Ainsi, en 2012, Fred commence à composer quelques maquettes, sans but précis, juste pour le fun. Quelques années plus tard, lors d'une conversation par messagerie instantanée avec Tamatoa, le sujet est abordé, et les morceaux sont envoyés à l'autre bout de la planète. Tamatoa apprécie les démos, d'autant qu'il s'est récemment remis à la musique après une trop longue pause : Percussions Polynésiennes traditionnelles, ainsi que divers projets Death et Black Metal avec d'autres musiciens issus de la très vivace scène Metal Polynésienne. C'est naturellement qu'il accepte de tenter l'aventure, et ainsi naquit Reaching Nothingness.

Les 4 premiers morceaux feront l'objet d'un premier EP. Composés par Fred dans une veine extrême et atmosphérique, il ne reste plus qu'à trouver un(e) chanteu(se)r pour compléter la formation.
