This was a mural project I did to encourage communities to vaccinate!
Based off of the novel, The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morison, the novel takes place in Lorain, Ohio, and tells the story of a young African-American girl named Pecola who grew up following the Great Depression. She struggles physically and mentally in the high-stakes of racism, segregation, and poverty. Blonde hair and blue eyes is what she desires. The text in the drawing is a quote from a book of a picture-perfect white affluent family, a dream that never came true.
