Our April Share the Plate recipient is Nuzzles & Co.—and they’ll be bringing puppies with them! On Sunday, stop by the Little Chapel for a puppy snuggle lounge, where you can cuddle a puppy and learn more about Nuzzles & Co.’s work in our community.
We’ll also be collecting needed items for their shelter at the Social Justice table and in a donation bin outside the Little Chapel. Their current needs include canned dog and cat food, puppy and kitten formula, cat and dog treats, bleach, potty pads, paper towels, nitrile gloves, and garbage bags.
Come meet some adorable guests and support this important work.
We’re celebrating the children in our community with our annual Child Dedication Ceremony during worship on April 5, 2026, at 9 and 11 am. This ritual is a way to welcome new children and families of all ages into the congregation, surround them with love, and affirm our shared commitment to their growth and well-being.
All families are invited to take part! Follow the link to register. If you have any questions, contact Amanda at dre@slcuu.org. We’d love to celebrate with you!
We’re excited to offer OWL (Our Whole Lives) for 5th and 6th graders this spring! OWL is a thoughtful, inclusive program that supports youth in understanding themselves, their values, and healthy relationships. Sessions run Sundays, April 12–May 17, plus two Saturdays (April 25 & May 2).
Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a thoughtful, inclusive, and age-appropriate sexuality education program that supports young people in learning about themselves, their values, and healthy relationships. It is a meaningful and well-loved part of our religious education offerings, and we are glad to be able to offer it again for our 5th and 6th graders.
Have you been looking for an easy way to support Religious Education? Our Sunday SUUperhero role is one of the simplest, lowest-prep ways to help our program run smoothly. Superheroes assist with welcoming families, helping with check-in, making sure children and youth get to their groups safely, and then helping where needed.
Our program works best when many families share in small acts of volunteering. A handful of families have already stepped up multiple times this year, and we would love to invite families who haven’t had a chance to volunteer yet to consider taking a turn. Even signing up once helps keep RE strong and sustainable for everyone.
Thank you for helping make RE possible!
First Church has lots going on for families, kids, and youth. From Youth Night Outs and Community Dinners to Family Meetups, there’s usually something happening most weeks that’s especially welcoming for children, youth, and families.
To help keep everything in one easy place, we created our Worship Every Way calendar. Each age group has its own tab where you can see upcoming events and a quick guide to what Sundays will look like. You’ll always find the link at the bottom of our weekly newsletter—and it’s a great one to bookmark for easy reference.
Join us for our new monthly Community Dinner Nights! We’ll share a potluck meal, then break into multi-age activities: activities and games for kids, skill workshops for teens, and multiple programming groups for adults. Come for the food, stay for the connection!
We are looking to diversify our voices on Ritual Sundays, and would love children and youth volunteers to help as worship associates. We need musicians, singers, readers, greeters; any ways that you see an adult participate, a child or youth could as well. Look below for ways to start to participate!
Music: Does your child or youth play and instrument and would like to play a prelude? Or would they lilke to lead, "Come, Come"? Email David Owens to signup!
Chalice Lighting: Click Here to signup to light our chalice. Children or youth can bring their own chalice lighting words, or we can provide options!
Have something else your child or youth would like to helo with? Email Amanda Esko and let her know.
Do you like to jump in where you’re needed most? Our Sunday Superheroes are flexible helpers who fill in any gaps on Sunday mornings—whether that’s caring for little ones in the nursery, assisting in a classroom, or lending a hand wherever support is needed. Superheroes meet in the Little Chapel at 10:45 am to check in and find out where their superpowers will be most helpful that day. No cape required—just a willing spirit and a smile!
If you are in need of assistance or support during this time, please reach out in confidence to our Senior Minister, Rev. J Sylvan, at minister@slcuu.org, or to our Director of Religious Education, Amanda Esko, at dre@slcuu.org.
Open Sanctuary Hour, Every Tuesday, 5:30-6:30 pm
The world feels heavy these days, and sometimes you just need a quiet, sacred space to sit with all of it. Every Tuesday, we will open up the Sanctuary from 5:30-6:30 for quiet reflection, prayer, meditation, or soft conversation. At least one staff member or lay leader will be present at every Open Sanctuary Hour. Together, may we guide each other through the wilderness.
Swap March 28th, Eliot Hall 10am-1pm

Full Week Faith plans are daily activities for families to work on together and within the community. Each week, you will find a family discussion question, a chalice lighting, a journal prompt, an activity, and more.
