The Research Development and Publication Center (RDPC) is the research unit of Assumption College of Nabunturan. It shall perform the role of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the research projects and programs of the college. Moreover, it is tasked to conduct research dissemination activities such as publication of researches produced by faculty, staff and students through research presentations, conferences and fora.
RDPC strives for and expects the highest standard of scholarly work from its researchers, and shall maintain freedom of inquiry and freedom of expression in all its research activities as it protects the academic freedom of its researchers. It moves smoothly following her vision, mission, goals and objectives.
Vision:
RDPC as the center of research excellence in Davao de Oro province equipped with the capacity to develop intellectual assets to respond to the needs of the institutional environments and imbued with social responsibility of developing and nurturing human potentials.
Mission:
RDPC provides opportunities for the facility acquisition of doing research that will lead to the development of a culture of research among faculty, staff, and students.
RDPC contributes to the development of the school through the wise utilization of research findings and results for policy-making and planning and for the development of communities in the spirit of social responsibility.
RDPC establishes linkages with other educational institutions and with local, national, and international research organizations and institute a network for the retrieval, packaging, dissemination, utilization and exchange of research information.
Objectives:
RDPC shall develop, promote and provide assistance to faculty, staff and student researchers who are undertaking studies to gain new knowledge useful for the advancement of our country’s science and technology, for the development of communities and for the support and enhancement of both instruction and extension activities of Assumption College of Nabunturan.
In the area of RESEARCH, the center aims to:
· Empower faculty, staff and students to be more creative, innovative, reflective, responsible, and productive researchers.
· Improve research productivity and quality of faculty, staff and student researches.
· Encourage faculty, staff and students to engage in research work and develop professionalism through research practice.
· Produce refereed researches for publication in different research journals.
· Develop theories, models, or paradigms that can be translated into useful technologies and concepts for the advancement of the research, extension, and instruction of Assumption College of Nabunturan and its stakeholders.
In the area of PUBLICATION, the center aims to:
· Publish articles and research updates in its bi-annual newsletter.
· Publish a compendium of abstracts of theses and researches.
· Publish evaluation results of institutional activities.
· Convert theses and dissertations into publishable materials.
· Publish researches and articles in the school’s research journal and other local and international journals.
In the area of CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, the center aims to:
· Assist the academic departments in studying areas for improvement to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of curricular programs.
· Study the possibility of offering relevant courses or programs for both the undergraduate and graduate departments.
In the area of EXTENSION SERVICES, the center aims to:
· Provide technical support services to students, staff and teachers who are undertaking their research.
·Provide consultancy services to researchers, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies.
·Assist the Community Extension Services Office (CESO) in identifying the needs of partner community.
· Identify opportunities for reach-out programs.
· Conduct commissioned researches.
Network with institutions that provide research grants.
Goals:
The RDPC shall strive to:
Encourage faculty, staff and students to take an interest in research on various fields and disciplines affecting their academic training.
Undertake research of the highest quality on key topics in academic, social and environmental policy and to make such research available to the public.
Provide a venue for dialogue among faculty, staff and students by sponsoring seminars, workshops and conferences around topics of special interest.
Establish quality standards for academic, social and biodiversity research and educate the research community in their use.
