We have decided to discontinue our yearly Fall Book Fair sponsored by Scholastic Book Fairs. Unfortunately, this Fall Scholastic made a decision with their book selections that separated titles into a "separate section." This sperate section was comprised of titles with diverse characters, families and backgrounds, and not a part of the book fair, unless requested. This decision affected fairs all across the country and in our PPS community. Due to the nature of the fair, unless the book fair coordinator was aware, and knew to ask for the titles pulled into the separate section, they were not sent to many book fairs. After many conversations with Scholastic centered around this decision, and input from our Rose City Park Site Council, I felt it was best to move to a local fundraising option where we can celebrate diverse characters and books that represent our students through a variety of stories. Please join me in partnering with A Children's Place Bookstore this year, where we can support our community and have a wide variety of books for our growing readers!
