Interested in becoming a Catholic, but uncertain about onsite meetings? We are pleased to offer options to accommodate these challenging times!
For adults, the usual way to become a member of the Catholic Church is through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The RCIA is a gradual process of education and formation for those unbaptized, baptized in another Christian denomination, or baptized Catholic but who have not received other sacraments or formation in the faith. The RCIA program helps adults to grow in their relationship with God and leads to the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil on April 3, 2021.
Initially this year, our normal onsite sessions will be offered via Zoom meetings. As restrictions ease and the virus is controlled, we will offer in person meetings and continue the online option to accommodate busy schedules and to lessen fears of any health risks or concerns. Periodically during the first ten weeks, we will provide a time for a brief in person gathering in the church where we will listen to a few Biblical readings, have time for prayer and some time for questions.
What will our online sessions look like? For the first 10 sessions we will invite you to watch a short video at home. The video series we will use is Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained. Access to the videos is free through our parish Formed.org platform. Then, on Monday evenings, we’ll host a Zoom meeting from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm to review the highlights of the video and provide opportunity for discussion.
