Jackson became involved with the RCDMC in the summer of 2009 through the center’s lead researcher, Dr. Darcy Hallett. Funding for his position was provided by the SWASP program. As a research assistant, Jackson helped collect and input data for studies involving junior high students’ knowledge of fractions. He also helped program some new experiments using the MATLAB program. Jackson’s time working with the RCDMC has given him new insights and understanding about how psychological research is conducted, and the many factors that must be considered while processing data so that a valid conclusion can be made.
