Dr. Hallett received a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, with a minor in Psychometrics, from the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Michael Chandler. After finishing his Ph.D., but before coming to Memorial, he also completed a two-year SSHRC Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Oxford working with Terezinha Nunes and Peter Bryant.
He currently runs RCDMC, a research laboratory that focuses on mathematical cognition and development. As a Developmental Psychologist, he is particularly interested in how children’s mathematical knowledge develops as they progress through school. One goal of Dr. Hallett’s is to apply his research in mathematical development to help improve teaching and learning mathematics.
