Tournament Rules

Puget Sound Shootout Rules

• Four ten (10) minute quarters.  Running clock EXCEPT last two minutes of second half ONLY.

• Halftime will be three (3) minutes.

• Five (5) fouls per player.

• Three (3) timeouts for each team (all 30 second timeouts).  Use when you need them.

• No shot clock.

• New free throw rules.  Two shots for all fouls after fifth team foul, tow shots for all shooting fouls, three shots for 3-point fouls.  NEW: After five (5) team fouls in a period every free throw attempt is two shots.  TEAM FOULS WILL RESET EVERY QUARTER TO ZERO.

• Technical fouls are two (2) points plus the ball.

• Intentional fouls are two (2) points plus the ball.

• Overtime will be two (2) minutes.  It will be played with the same rules as the last two minutes of regulation.

  • One (1) timeout per team added for overtime.

• Second overtime is sudden death.  First team to score wins.

• All other High School Rules are in effect.

• There will be no shot clock for both boys and girls..

• There will be ten (10) second backcourt for boys and girls.

• GIRLS POOL TIEBREAKERS: The top two teams in each of the four pools will advance to the quarterfinals. In case of ties, the team with the better head to head record will win the tiebreaker. Second tiebreaker is points scored. Third tiebreaker is points allowed. Fourth tiebreaker is a coin flip.

• BOYS POOL TIEBREAKERS: The top two teams in each of the four pools will advance to the quarterfinals. In case of tie, the team with the better head to head record will win the tiebreaker. Second tiebreaker is points scored. Third tiebreaker is points allowed.  Fourth tiebreaker is a coin flip.
